prayers

text forprayers

Try to think of the artist`s work as “prayer”.

A work is a compressed fragment of each story,

only a collection of small acts.

Or, even if you don`t intend any story,

the accumulation of small personal acts is

inevitable to be into a bigger story.

It is not possible to separate

the work and the current situation

surrounding the artist,

such as nationality, race,

cultural background and social situation.

When I say “prayer”

it is not limited to religious acts.

It`s about every moment in a more common life,

when we rely on “something” beyond ourselves.

The work is exactly “something” that we rely on,

and it looks like a church that connects

personal stories with bigger stories.

Then, why are we trying to connect?

to share the story?

to create a new story?

Anyway, we can only be “others” when someone pray.

And, it may be possible to share the time and space of “prayer”.
